Earlier by the start of August, the government had banned the imports of Pulses from Burma, but some traders was seen to have made advance payments due to which the Government has allowed these traders to import pulses.

It is anticipated that about 0.2 million tons of Pulses will be arriving in the domestic market. In anticipation of the arrival of Pulses, the prices in the domestic market have declined by Rs 500 per quintal.

The new produce will start to arrive in the market soon and along with the arrival of Pulses from Burma is the main reason for the decline in Pulses prices. The Pulses prices are still ruling below Minimum Support Price (MSP).

Government has also planned to sell pulses of about 3 million tons which it had stocked in its godowns during the year. The government is also looking forward to allow exports of Pulses from the country to help farmers get better profit.
